This is a must see!… Mike Tompkins doing a full acapella of Coldplay’s “Paradise”…. and by full acapella I don’t mean just vocals… organ, synth, violin, drums and everything with just his mouth!…. At the end of the video, he shows how he recorded each part separately with his mouth…. enjoy! :)

Techno Take-Over!!!!

………. Okay, now this is just going way too far!… First I thought it was just a phase u kno?… Then I started hearing it over and over again from different producers and artistes… Even the black ones!…. Confused???…. I’m talking about Techno music!… Music used to be so diverse, but now all everyone wants to do is make party anthems!… When David Guetta first dropped on the scene, we were amazed by his style when we heard “Memories” with Kid Cudi. No doubt it was dope!…. To market himself, he started collaborating with popular artistes like Kelly Rowland, Flo Rida, Usher, Ludacris, Chris Brown and a whole lot of other guys…. Then it started becoming a dragg!.. Other producers started picking the techno style up to… The Cataracs, Red One and Cutfather are a few to mention…. whether they were influenced by David Guetta and the party rockers; ‘LMFAO’, or they already produced that way and have gained popularity because of the techno craze, i cant tell….. One thing’s for sure though is that Techno is taking over!.. I feel like every artiste thinks they need a hot, techno, party track to stay on the charts… Sometimes I listen to these songs and wonder if they were even composed!…. They sound like a bunch of electric tunes and arpeggios were thrown together and mixed around until it sounded good enough to jam to!… and then there’s that typical part of the beat that rises until it sounds like there’s gonna be an explosion and then the chorus comes in with people jumping up and down in the music video wearing all sorts of colorful apparel!….lolol …. and is it just me, or these type of techno songs lead to poor lyrical content?? “Let’s go to the beach! each! let’s go get away!” - Nick Minaj (Starships) lol….. and just so you know, that song was actually the last straw before I wrote this post….

Now Im not saying the songs don’t sound good… I mean, we need a few club bangers here and there to keep us on our toes, but I just think they could be a bit more sophisticated and unique. I feel this generation of artistes and producers are losing their creative touch and ability to make ‘real’ music.. I really miss the production styles of the past decade. Guys like Jermaine Dupri, Timbaland, Scott Storch and Dr. Dre all had styles that were unique and produced songs that we still jam to today!… and if your ears are good enough, you could actually tell which songs they produced, just by listening to them!…. Who doesn’t remember and still jam to tunes like; ‘Lean Back’, ‘Make it Rain’, ‘Hotel’, ‘Trade it all’, ‘Breathe Stretch Shake’ all dem Jagged Edge and Ja Rule tunes!…. and the crazy RnB ones like ‘Unfaithful’, ‘With You’, ‘Gallery’, ‘Let me love you’ … all of which were composed by Neyo by the way!… (sadly, he too has fallen victim to techno production styles) ….

… I feel kinda sorry for kids of today, seeing as this is the kind of music they’re growing up on….on the other hand, maybe this is how our parents felt about us when people actually started to ‘engineer’ music from a computer…lol …Im gonna end here now and go listen to more Nicki Minaj and Rihanna techno tunes while they’re still around, cuz i doubt i’ll remember them five years later! ;-) ….”Starships  were meant to flyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy!” haha

Spoken Word!! (Just a spoof…hehehe)

…Charcoal, Charcoal…hot, dirty charcoal burns in the fire, whilst beautiful white rice boils in the coal pot, emitting a wonderful aroma… But alas… The white rice cannot boil without the charcoal, so the chef continues to pour more charcoal into the blaze…. The rice continues to boil, and by the time its ready…the charcoal has turned to ashes, only to be blown away by the silent wind… Everybody loves rice, but no one really appreciates the charcoal, even though it was once a majestic tree… a symbol of mother nature… Charcoal, charcoal… Dedicated to @Amowi_

Anyone who visits my blog occasionally, will know that I’m a big fan of Aubrey Drake Graham… Since the release of his second album ‘Take Care’, he’s put out five videos; Marvins Room, Headlines, Practice and HYFR… I saw the last two videos last night for the first time, but it was the HYFR video that really caught my attention….  The video is supposed to display the events of Drake’s re-bar mitzvah, to show his re-commitment to the Jewish religion…. Now, Im not a Jew so   I really don’t know much about the religion. However, the video looked a bit blasphemous to me, even though it’s a hot video! lol…… I mean, u just watch it… It’s got Trey Songs downing a whole bottle of patron, dirty dancing and just wild partying!… watch it and see what you think… and if any Jew or someone affiliated with Jews comes across this, please let me kno what you, as well as the general Jewish community thinks about the video
